Familiar Shoplifter Goes to Jail

A male shoplifter thought he could conceal a stolen cell phone and leave the store without being recognized Monday evening around 6:42 PM. Grass Valley Police Sergent Steve Johnson says that loss prevention officers at KMART reported a familiar person, Christopher Bancroft, was hiding in the restroom with a cellphone he apparently had cut form security leash on a display a short time earlier.

Officers searched the restroom and discovered the cell phone packaging which Bancroft had attempted to hide in order to conceal the phone in his clothing. Officers also searched Bancroft.

Bancroft was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on alleged burglary and drug related charges.
