Fatal Accident Closed Highway 49

An accident shortly after 7 p.m. last evening on Highway 49 at Brewer Road claimed the life of one driver and sent two others to Sutter Roseville Hospital.

According to the CHP report 18-year-old Tyler Gevas of Grass Valley and driving a 2002 Toyota Pickup southbound on Highway 49 at Brewer road when, the CHP says due to his fatigue, he allowed the Toyota to travel into the Northbound lane directly into the path of a 2005 Chevy Tahoe driven by 35-year-old Noel Camacho of Stockton.

Gevas,  the driver of the Toyota  sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center by air ambulance and Camacho, who was driving the Tahoe sustained fatal injuries   and was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

A passenger in Camacho’s vehicle, 29-year-old Maria Pineda sustained major injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center along with a one year old boy who sustained no injuries but was taken to the hospital to be checked out.  All parties involved were using safety belts.

Highway 49 was closed at Brewer Road for approximately one hour as a result of the collision.
