A man died in a fiery crash this afternoon on HWY 49 and Pleasant Valley road. Shortly before 2:30 this afternoon (Monday) an accident was reported at HWY 49 and Pleasant Valley Road in the North San Juan area of the county. According to officer Justin Barnthhouse with the Grass Valley CHP Office the accident involved a red Ford pick-up into a tree.

Life flight was called to the scene but was turned away when the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Authorities called the coroners office. One lane of one-way metered traffic began shortly before 4pm. The identity of the man has been verified but not released due to notification of family. The accident remains under investigation.
