Fatal Crash On Donner Summit Monday

A southern California man lost his life in a car accident on Interstate 80. CHP Sergeant Scott Loetscher says several reports of a erratic driver were received on Monday by the Highway Patrol. Loetscher says one of the officers was waiting for the car at the Boreal Ski area, and as the officer was getting in position to make a traffic stop, he saw the car pull off the right side of the road hit a sign and then a large boulder.

Jonathan Heit of Cypress was pronounced dead at the scene. Heit’s 2011 Lexus had to be cut apart to get the driver out. The entire accident was caught on the CHP officers dash board camera. The Coroner is continuing the investigation into the accident.
