A fatal accident involving an Off Highway Vehicle in the Bear Valley, Thursday afternoon. The Bear Valley is the flat spot on Highway 20 closer to Highway 80 on the way from Nevada City. CHP Officer Mike Steele says the call came in around 3:30 in the afternoon.

The driver was ejected as a result of the collision and also ended up in the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Steele says shortly after the collision, a passerby tried to assist.

Because of the report of water being involved, and the remote location of the incident, a full response was initiated from Grass Valley and the Gold Run CHP offices.

The CHPs H20 chopper team is second to none when it comes to performing water rescues, and hoist type missions involving severely injured victims.
