Fatality on South Yuba River

A call of an unresponsive body in the water was received by Grass Valley CALFIRE Emergency Dispatch shortly after 3:30 has not ended well. Chelsea Fox with Emergency Dispatch confirms rescue attempts at the incident, that was on the South Yuba River south of the Old Bridge on Highway 49 were unsuccessful.

Fox says multiple agencies had responded but were unable to revive the victim. Water flows on the river have increased as Lake Spaulding has filled and is spilling water into the South Yuba. Flows are expected to be fast and cold all weekend long.
