Felon Arrested on Battery Charges

A felon that was was re-arrested for possession of a firearm earlier this month was arrested again but this time for a number of alleged battery related charges. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says officers to an assault call at a Julia Ranch Rd home Friday evening.

While being questioned by the officers Cortez became agitated and took a fighting stance swinging at officers and telling them to arrest him.

The officer needed to go to the hospital to be treated.
Cortez was taken into custody and charged with battery, battery on an officer, resisting arrest, and terrorist threats.
