Felon Captured in Stolen Car

A man driving a stolen car Wednesday morning on Highway 174 in Peardale had the misfortune of getting in front of a Nevada County Deputy Sheriff.  Lt. Paul Schmidt says the deputy was responding to assist another deputy and was heading up highway 174  at 4:55 a.m.  when he noticed  a suspicious vehicle in front of him.  The Deputy ran the license and the car came back as being stolen out of Grass Valley. Lt. Schmidt says the deputy put on his lights to initiate a traffic stop but the driver sped up and turned into the area of Meadow and Orzalli  Way  in Peardale.

31 year old Jason Boyce of Grass Valley was taken into custody and booked at the Wayne Brown Correctional facility.

The stolen vehicle Boyce was driving was a  Honda.  Ironically the first deputy who had called for backup was also on a stakeout for what he thought was a stolen vehicle but that turned out not to be the case.
