Few Early Inmate Releases To Address Coronavirus

Just a handful of Nevada County jail inmates have ultimately been released, to help reduce any coronavirus crowding concerns. Walsh says out of 30 or so inmates who were determined to be eligible, in collaboration with the public defender’s office, probation, and the courts, only five have been outright released…

Walsh says there were also three other inmates who were released into various treatment facilities. The reductions also help with mitigating in courthouse congestion. Defendants who need to appear are currently doing it by video.
