People whose jobs were affected by the October wildfires have another month to file for Federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance. State Employment Development Department Deputy Director, Laura Levy, says it applies to qualifying individuals in Nevada County, as well as Butte, Lake, Napa, Orange, Sonoma, and Yuba Counties. But she says there have been only 4 claims filed by Nevada County residents, and none qualified for the program…
The new deadline is December 18th. Levy says they’ve received around 6700 claims so far…
Levy says only around 400 people have qualified, and most are self-employed. Eligible workers can receive up to $450 a week for a maximum period of 26 weeks.
