Fewer Layoff Notices Issued By NJUHSD

March 15th is the annual state deadline for school districts to issue layoff notices. And those numbers have been dwindling in recent years, with a number of districts not even issuing notices, as the economy improves. In the Nevada Joint Union High School District, Assistant Superintendent Karen Suenram says only two teachers have received notices, which are often rescinded in May…

But Suenram says the Board of Trustees has also approved staff recommendations to reduce teaching sections, due to a continuing decline in enrollment from more people moving out of Nevada County…
