The Nevada County Fair opens this week, and organizers are getting ready. The Fairgrounds Board of Directors is having a special meeting tomorrow afternoon–the day before the fair–something that Fair C-E-O Sandy Woods says happens every year.

Something like that can be discussed at the time, or any last-minute questions can be answered. Woods says after that, there’s an exhibitors meeting at the livestock barns.

One thing that may be a little different this year is the number of people using the designated free-speech area to protest the elephant rides. Woods says they are prepared for that.

The board meeting is at 4pm tomorrow on the patio behind the administration office. The public is invited, but the meeting is not usually highly-attended.
