Caltrans spokeswoman Liza Whitmore says tonight and tomorrow night from 11pm to 5am, Interstate 80 will be closed, and hydraulic jacks will literally lift that bridge about a foot and a half. The project is necessary so that the bridge will meet new federal standards, which Whitmore says were put in place for the military…
The new minimum clearance requirement is 16-feet-six inches. Most bridges have about 15 feet of clearance.
