A dramatic improvement in Nevada County’s COVID case rate is finally being reported. Public Health Officer, Doctor Scott Kellermann, says it’s dropped from 11-point-7 to 6-point-1. But Kellermann says the county would still need to drop below 6 for two straight weeks to move from the Red or “substantial” infection Tier to the Orange or “moderate” Tier. That means the earliest that could happen would be just one week before the tier system is scheduled to end. There are still ten Red Tier counties. But only two, Placer and Merced, have lower case rates than Nevada County. Meanwhile, Amador, Orange, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties have moved from to the loosest or Yellow Tier, with Tehama County now Orange.
