Fire Activity in Surrounding Areas

Another busy day for firefighters, with several vegetation fires breaking out in the area.
A 12-acre fire in the Spenceville Wildlife Area started this morning and was contained by multiple agencies.
In the afternoon, a small vegetation fire at the Donner Summit area had engines streaming up I 80.
Union Pacific reported railroad ties on fire in the Colfax area.
Shortly thereafter, Colfax Avenue in Grass Valley was the latest location firefighters were dispatched to.
Around 4:30 pm, Beale Air Force Base requested assistance with a vegetation fire on the base. Units are on their way. The fire is on Doolittle Way and there is no threat of the blaze leaving the confines of the base.
As of now (4:57pm) all fires with the exception of the Beale grass fire are contained.

As of 6:50 PM all local resources have been released from the Beale incident. The fire is fully contained at 348 acres. Smoke will still be seen in the area as some islands of unburned grass within the fire will burn out. Mopup operations are in progress.
