The sound of a helicopter heading towards the pad at Grass Valley Station Two on Sierra College this morning caught the attention of Grass Valley residents around 10:00 AM. The good news it was not an emergency. It was a training for Nevada County fire agencies. KNCO’s Paul Haas was on scene and spoke with Cal Fire Battalion Chief Sean Griffis.
Griffis talks us through the rescue as the helicopter approaches and hovers about 250 feet above the helipad.
As the firefighter prepared the patients to be lifted, Griffis explains who is actually on the helicopter.
As the patient was being lifted the helicopter was already on the move.
Fire fighters from Nevada County Consolidated, Penn Valley, Grass Valley, and Nevada City participated in the training along with Cal Fire personnel.
