Talks are continuing between Consolidated, Grass Valley and Nevada City Fire Departments about consolidating the three agencies. Consolidated Fire Board President Keith Gruenberg says the intensive talks about the structure of command have been going on for six months. Gruenberg says a recent proposal of a joint powers agreement is not a direction his department was interested in going.

The discussions center around who will be in charge of the three departments, and who will have oversight of the Chief. Gruenberg says the working fire fighters portion of  consolidation is working well. A meeting is scheduled in February to continue working on a possible contract between the three agencies.
