Fire Danger High in County

Along with drought conditions officially declared this morning by Governor Brown, fire danger throughout Northern California is extremely high. CALFIRE Public Information Officer Daniel Berlant says conditions are the same as summer.

In the past two weeks CALFIRE has responded to 150 fires burning 600 acres compared to 25 fires for 40 acres during the same time period last year. Burning has been temporarily banned in many counties. Berlant strongly urges people to extra careful in regards to burning both in and outside.

CALFIRE is already in the process of hiring 125 seasonal firefighters that normally would not be hired until early May.
