Besides keeping Nevada City’s only fire station open, Measure C is already paying dividends to Nevada County residents…
Nevada City City Manager Mark Prestwich says on a scale of 1 to 10, with one being best, the rating has gone from 5, to 3, meaning lower fire insurance premiums. Remember, Nevada City had to install rolling brownouts last year at Fire Station 54 after the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District removed two firefighters from that station. Prestwich says that endangered the fire insurance rating from going the other way…
The strategy was temporary funding to keep the station open full time. Measure C, which is a three-eighths of a cent sales tax, goes into effect in April.
