Fire Near Independence Trail Controlled

Quick response by multiple agencies to a fire in the Yuba River canyon North of Nevada City last night. North San Juan Fire Captain Rainy Bluecloud says they got the call shortly after 9 last evening.

The fire was located on the Nevada City side of the Highway 49 bridge between the Bridge and Independence Trail. Bluecloud says the fire was on a steep part of the canyon.*

Highway 49 was closed for a couple of hours because fire trucks were blocking the roadway.

Units from North San Juan Fire Cal Fire and Nevada County Consolidated all responded to the call. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
