Fire off LaBarr Meadows Road

Just before 5 o’clock this afternoon a vegetation fire was reported on La Barr Meadows Rd in Nevada County.  Air tankers 88 and 89 out of Nevada County airport were called in to assist ground resources in fighting the fire that was reported at about 2 acres in size by fire ground units on scene. The fire location is at LaBarr Meadows road near East McKnight in Grass Valley.  It is a brush and grass wind driven Fire. Road closures were being put into effect.

Update: the Incident Commander on the fire on La Barr Meadows Road says the spread of the fire has been stopped, a wet line is around the fire.

 Air Attack has released both tankers, they are loaded and ready at the Grass Valley Air Attack Base. Two helicopters are still assigned to the  Fire. Air Attack (spotter plane) will remain over both fires.

 

 

In other fire news:

earlier today around 4pm there was an  Attic fire on Jayhawk Drive in Penn Valley . The house was evacuated, firefighters were on scene. in the 18000 block of Jayhawk Drive, reported as smoke in the attic. Numerous engines en route.
