Most Nevada county residents by now have received a $150 bill from the state for fire prevention efforts. The fee was passed by the legislature and signed by the governor last year to raise $84 million for fire prevention in the rural state responsibility areas. Homeowners who live in the state responsibility area will get a $35 credit if they already pay a tax to a local fire district.
