Fire Restrictions in Effect for Tahoe National Forest

Fire restrictions are in place throughout the Tahoe National Forest. restrictions went into effect on June 1st and will remain in effect through the summer and fall. Tahoe National Forest Spokesperson, Michael Woodbridge, says restrictions cover most but not all of the Forest areas.

There is a list of approved areas at all Forest Offices as well as posted on the Tahoe National Forest website. The list is also posted at each campground. Besides open fires, there are also other restrictions in place.

The use of internal combustion engines on vehicles is restricted to National Forest system roads, routes, trails, and areas as identified on the Tahoe National Forest Motor Vehicle Use Map.
Woodcutting permits are still valid but must follow all precautionary measures.
