The Nevada County Fire Safe Council is preparing to give out lots of information at their booth at the Nevada County Fair. Executive Director Joanne Drummond says if you want to clear defensible space around your home, sign up for a chipping program or plan fire evacuations for your neighborhood, their booth is the place to go.
Drummond says the Fire Safe Council has also cooperated with Americorps to use their workers to run a chipping program for the community.
Residents who become members of the fire safe council at $49 a year can get priority on the list for chipping. The Fire Safe Council also has a list of fire safe plants to use for landscaping.
Check them out at the fair or on the web at areyoufiresafe.com.
