Fire Safe Council Announces Award Recipients

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County is giving three awards to recognize those dedicated to protecting our community from catastrophic wildfire. The Fire Safe Council is a non-profit, local volunteer organization dedicated to making Nevada County safer from catastrophic wildfire through fire prevention education, fire break clearing projects and creating Firewise Communities USA®.
Executive Director Joanne Drummond says that Pilot Peak Winery has been selected as Fire Safe Partner of the Year.

Pilot Peak Winery has hosted and supported the largest fundraising event for the Fire Safe Council since 2008.

Drummond says that The Mountain Lakes Estates Firewise Community will be honored as the Firewise Community of the Year.

The Council is pleased to be able to honor Mountain Lakes for their proactive approach to fire safety and helping put money back in the pockets of residents in Firewise Communities.

The third award honors the Volunteer of the Year.

Davison also wrote an article on the Bark Beetles for the Council’s “Prepare for Fire Seson Guide”.
Drummond also says the Fire Safe Council’s efforts to establish Firewise Communities would not be possible without Dario Davidson.
