Fire Safe Council Gets Large Donation

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County is the beneficiary of ongoing support from a national foundation. Executive Director Joanne Drummond says that the Allstate Insurance Foundation is a partner in support of Firewise Communities in Nevada County.

The 10,000 dollar donation will go towards hazard assessments and community education for everyone as well as defensible space clearing for the elderly and disabled citizens.

With nine Firewise Communities already established in Nevada County, Joanne Drummond says that there are two more in the works.

Drummond says the residents that request a fire safe evaluation will also get a free calendar from the National Fire Protection Association that has a photo from a local Firewise Community activity.
