County officials say the higher elevations, such as Truckee, are in the “below normal” category for wildfire danger, due to the record-breaking snowpack. But the lower foothill locations, including Western Nevada County, fall under the “above normal” category. Gulserian says 95% of the cause is human activity. The guides are available through the Fire Safe Council, at fire stations, and the Rood Center. And the libraries may have some also.
