Fire Threatens Liberty Motors

A fire near a homeless camp could have been disastrous for a local business.  Consolidated Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Turner says the fire was reported behind Liberty Motors on Freeman Lane at just after midnight Monday.  Chief Turner says when the first crews arrived, they found flames in the surrounding trees.

The Chief says fire crews were able to knock down the fire.  Several trailes on the car lot were threatened but not damaged.  The Chief also says the fire could have been very serious because of the fire conditions.  The reason for the fire is still under investigation.
