Tolmachoff says outdoor recreationists are vital in reducing wildfires, including making sure that grass, leaves, and other debris is cleared at least 10 feet away from a campfire. Also..make sure campfires are completely extinguished, and when barbequing, never leave a grill unattended. Drivers can also help, by ensuring their vehicles don’t have trailer chains dragging on the pavement, and never driver or pull over into dry grass.
