Firefighters Burn House in Training Exercise

Fire engines crews and other fire department equipment will be out on Rector Road today where Nevada County Firefighters will intentionally set a donated house on fire so they can practice firefighting skills and techniques. The structure is located on Rector Road at Running Horse Road and Nevada County Consolidated Fire Battalion Chief David Ray says the exercise provides valuable experience to new firefighters.

They hope to complete the burn and exercise by 2 o’clock this afternoon. Local residents are reminded that, if you see smoke coming from the Rector Road area and lots of fire equipment in the area, it is a training exercise.
