Fireplace Source of House Fire in Glenbrook Area

Fire units responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of Annex Avenue in the Glenbrook basin area of Grass valley shortly before 10 o’clock last evening.

Grass Valley Fire Captain Pat Sullivan says The first arriving engine found smoke showing from the eves and gable ends of a single story house, but the fire was actually inside a wall.

To access the fire, crews had to completely dismantle the masonry to the fireplace, but they were able to do that before the fire was able to spread.

Crews remained at scene for several hours with overhaul. Five engines with fifteen firefighters fought the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters or the single occupant of the home.
