First Annual Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run- 14th Penn Valley Daffodil Run

The sun burned off the low hanging fog that blanketed Penn Valley about 20 minutes before several hundred runners took off on a 5  or 10k run or 5 k walk as part of the Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run formally known as the Penn Valley Daffodil Run Sunday morning. Joanie Bumpus, the founder  of the Daffodil Run and the Grand Prix Running Series recently moved to Reno. She is humbled that Gene Gilligian went through the process to rename the run in her honor.

Penn Valley Rotarian, Barbara Ross, says the Rotarians, Penn Valley Lions and the Chamber split up the race organizational duties and says the event is a benefit for Penn Valley Schools, Clear Creek School and also generates scholarship money.

The Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run run began and ended at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley and was made possible by the volunteers form community organizations and local law enforcement.
