If you have a child that’s going to be entering kindergarten in the fall, there’s a free program this summer that might help that little one be better prepared. ‘Step Up to Kindergarten’, developed by First Five Nevada County, is now enrolling for a three week kindergarten readiness class this summer. Executive Director Lindsay Dunckel says the program was developed after a survey of kindergarten teachers shows that they wanted kids to have more social emotional development…
The children will be in a real kindergarten classroom with a certified kindergarten teacher, which helps them get adapted to the school environment before their first day. The class is five days a week from nine to noon at seven area schools, running from July 6 through July 26. Dunckel says the children can learn quite a bit in just that little bit of time…
They ask that you register by May 15. Contact First Five Nevada County (274-5361) to sign up or for more information.
