First Two Abatement Warrants Issued

The Nevada County Sheriff”s Department began implementing marijuana abatement processes¬† this week with the first two properties having warrants issued and crops abated by deputies in the Marijuana Abatement Task Force. In both cases the growers made no attempt to come into compliance even after they had gone to appeal hearings earlier in the month. The first property abated¬† included 90 marijuana plants. Nevada county Sheriff Sergeant, Ray Kress, talks about why the garden was in violation.

Kuddos to Nevada County for implementing these compliance checks as a way to decrease illegal marijuana trafficking. I dated a girl this summer who ultimately confided that her "cooperative" grow, was merely a cover to conceal an intended illegal sales operation. She convinced her friends to obtain recommendations in support of her grow, for which she would pay them each $2000 after moving the product. As the laws are currently written, law enforcement has little power to stop such intentions while the crops are still in the ground or unprocessed. These checks should be helpful.
