Fishing Derby Saturday

Local children will soon be able to experience one of the greatest joy, catching a fish. Michael Caston of the Grass Valley Sportsman’s Club says a free fishing day for younger children will be held a Lyons Lake on April 20th. Caston says the fishing derby is for children 3 to 12 years of age. He says this is the forty first time the Sportsman have hosted this event. He says the joy of seeing a child catch their first fish is a photo moment for parents. Prizes will be awarded for several age groups.

The children are asked to bring their own fishing equipment and bait; and parents should  bring a chair. A hot dog and drink will be given to the children. Sign ups will begin at 7 AM and fishing will start at eight. The Sportsman and Fish and wildlife will be planting fish for the kids. Caston says there is a rumor there may be several seven pound trout planted. The majority will be two to three pounds. For further information call 265-8397.
