Five Appointed as Marijuana Hearing Officers

In a continuing movement to complete the process of instituting the recently passed marijuana ordinance the Nevada County Board of Supervisor appointed five hearing officers. Nevada County Undersheriff Joe Salavar asked the board to appoint five independent hearing officers to hear appeals on violations of the marijuana ordinance. The under sheriff says the five are highly qualified for the position.

An attorney representing the marijuana growers expressed several concerns about the selection and training of the hearing officers. The Board of Supervisors appointed the five with Supervisor Lampier abstaining. The undersheriff says they will start hearing the appeals by the first of October.
