Remember the Nevada City girl who wants to ‘Fix 49’?….
As part of a school project, Allen and her family are putting on a community presentation about Highway 49 safety this evening at Bear River High School. After a couple of fatal collisions in the south County late last year, Allen feels the roadway is unsafe, and would like to see a center median built. Highway Patrol Officer Greg Tassone says, however, that while highway improvements are in the long term plan for Caltrans, a center median isn’t necessarily the answer, and statistics don’t indicate a need for one at this time…
Representatives from the Highway Patrol and Cal Trans will be there for the presentation, and there will be a question-and-answer session from the audience, with several hundred people expected to attend. As far as Allen’s school project, Tassone says he has talked to Jolie and her family several times, and says her project is well worth while…
The meeting is tonight at 7 o’clock at the Bear River High School Gym.
