Flat Tire Leads to Marijuana Bust on Hwy 49

A Nevada County Sheriff’s Lieutenant  driving near Juvenile hall on Highway 49  in Nevada City yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon about 2 p.m.  observed a motorist  who was stopped with a flat tire. Sheriff Keith Royal says the motorist, 61 year old Garth Alexander Gryte,   of Dayton, Nevada, said he  had taken some items out of the vehicle, covered them with a tarp and then drove to the other side of the road to have a flat spot to change the tire.

The Sheriff says inside the bags were 88 pounds of   processed and packaged marijuana.  Gryte was booked into jail for possession of marijuana for sale and transport of a controlled substance for sale.
