Flu Season Is Arriving

Western Sierra Medical Clinic Doctor Joel Eidelson says as many as one in every 10 people in the U.S gets the flu every year. About 200,000 are hospitalized for illness and 36,000 die from the flu or complications from the disease. But he says simply getting a flu shot can avoid a rather preventable illness…

Western Sierra Medical Clinic will start making the vaccine available for its patients on October 1st but Eidelson says it’s already available and you should check with your doctor. Eidelson says another very important thing people can do is frequent handwashing, including every time you feel like you may have been touched by someone with the flu or in contact with a surface touched by someone who’s ill.

Dr. Eidelson refers to "something as benign as a vaccine." But there are risks with all vaccines. Please do the research and consider the risks before deciding to get a flu vaccine.
