The Food Bank of Nevada County is able to do its Easter distribution today, despite a break-in and damage to their main food truck. Executive Director Nicole McNeely says security video recorded two people damaging the truck in the early hours Tuesday morning…
McNeely says they smashed windows and jammed something in the keyhole. The truck needs repairs but another truck, which is normally used for food storage will be available for today’s distribution. McNeely says because of the coronavirus pandemic, and people out of work, the number of people lining up for their distributions is way up. She says at their distributions in Grass Valley, they normally have about 350 people, but last week was way more…
That’s more than five times the normal number. Despite the damage to the truck, and the repairs that need to be made, McNeely gets emotional about providing food to those who really need it…
Today’s Easter distribution includes hams, potatoes, and carrots in addition to their normal bags of fresh food and non-perishable items. The distribution is from 10am to 1pm at the Grass Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church-12889 Osborne Hill Road.
