Former Grass Valley Downtown Association Executive Director Julia Jordan is facing one count of embezzlement that allegedly occurred when she was head of the organization. Funds in the association bank account were discovered missing around the time Jordan announced she was leaving the job in February of last year. Now Grass Valley police have confirmed that an investigation has been underway.

Jordan had left the Grass Valley Downtown Association to work as the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce CEO in February of 2015 . She resigned from that job after just 8 months and moved to Seattle. Based on the Grass Valley Police department investigation, a criminal complaint charging Jordan with one count of embezzlement was filed by the Nevada County District Attorney’s office. The Bonus check was made out allegedly for over $1,000 . Chief Gammelgard says there may be more charges coming.

Jordan had been sent a cite letter by the Nevada County District Attorneys office ordering her to appear in court on Monday on the one Felony Embezzlement charge , but her attorney Stephen Munkelt told the judge she did not have sufficient time to get to Nevada County to appear.
Jordan is now set to be arraigned on the original charge on April 11th in Nevada County Superior Court.
