College football’s bowl season kicks off this weekend, and the very first game on the schedule is of particular interest to a pair of Grass Valley families. Dan Pettinato and Zach Vallejo were teammates at Nevada Union High School, and grew up together playing football. Now, they are playing against each other. Both graduated from N-U in 2010. Vallejo, who is a linebacker, went to Yuba College before transferring to Nevada. Pettinato was conference Player of the Year while with the Miners. There have been lots of functions for both teams in Albuquerque this week, including a banquet, visits to local hospitals, and a Kickoff Luncheon. Pettinato says he’s enjoying himself…
