The U.S Postal Service confirms that four employees at the Nevada City Post Office have tested positive for the coronavirus. In a statement, they say the risk is low but they will keep their employees apprised, as new information and guidance becomes available. As always, specific medical information is kept confidential in COVID cases. Postal Service officials say although the virus can survive for a short period of time on some surfaces, it’s unlikely to be spread from domestic or international mail, products, or packaging. The statement goes on to say that the Postal Service delivered a record amount of packages this holiday season, in the midst of the pandemic, which significantly impacted workforce availability. They say this resulted in what they termed “temporary” delays in deliveries and that these challenges are being felt by shippers across the board.
