About two hours before this slide, a smaller one occurred just south of Downieville. A third slide on 49 occurred near the North Yuba River Bridge. Work also continues on a fourth slide, just north of Downieville, that happened last weekend. Also yesterday, a slide blocked both lanes of Highway 174, on the westbound side of the Bear River Bridge, although you can apparently get around it on the shoulder, if you need to, but it’s slow going. A slide also closed Pleasant Valley Road in the Penn Valley area, where Newtown Road is the alternate route. There is no estimate on when the slides will be cleared up.
