Free Measles and Tdap Vaccination Clinic May 2

Nevada County is offering a free measles vaccine clinic the first Friday in May. Public Health Coordinator for Emergency Preparedness, Patti Carter, says there is an outbreak of measles occurring in California. In order to help prevent an outbreak in Nevada County, Carter is organizing an Emergency Preparedness Vaccine Clinic.

Carter says since this is an emergency preparedness activity there is no cost. However, if you do receive Medi-cal you are asked to bring your card. The clinic is a proactive measure to prevent people from getting sick. Measles and Pertussis infections can have devastating consequences and are highly contagious.

To be eligible for the Measles Vaccine you need to be born after 1956 or at least 12 months old. For the Tdap Vaccine you need to be at least 10 years old. The May 2nd Clinic is at the Grass Valley Veteran’s Hall from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
