Free Program to Help Alert Seniors to Scams

Chances are you’ve gotten a phone call from someone claiming to be from the I-R-S, or an e-mail claiming you’ve won all kinds of money, as long as you send some in to “cover expenses”. These scams are going on all over the place and most of them target seniors. The Nevada County Adult Services Department is holding a free program tomorrow (Friday) to try to educate seniors about what kind of scams are out there, and how you can protect yourself. The seminar will feature a guest speaker from the California Department of Business Overnight. There will also be information on other senior programs. It’s at 1pm at the Board of Supervisors Chambers. Light refreshments will be served.
