A familiar face to local law enforcement set an unofficial speed record for being re-arrested following release from the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. Nevada City Police Officer Shane Franssen says that Patrick Maull, a regular on the streets of Nevada City had been in custody Thanksgiving night, but was released early Friday morning. Upon release Maull began the trek back into Nevada City and that’s when he made initial contact with Officer Franssen.

Though Maul was familiar to Franssen, and he was fairly certain the suspect was in violation of probation terms, the officer ran a records check before making contact.

At that point Franssen did make contact with Maull.

The total time from release at the jail, to re-arrest in Nevada City was 52 minutes. Franssen says that is just about the time it takes to walk from the jail to the Express Mart on Sacramento Street.
Franssen says Maull has several cases pending regarding alcohol and thefts.
Ironically, with Proposition 47 in effect, it is possible that prior felony charges against Maull will be reduced to misdemeanors.
