Full Lake Attracts Hundreds To Triathlon

After being a Duathlon last year, because of the drought, Sunday was once again the Barbara Schmidt Millar Celebration of Life Triathlon at Scott’s Flat Lake, with the half-mile swimming leg restored. McInosh’s winning time was 1 hour 11minutes and 33 seconds. There was also an 11-mile bicycle competition and a 3K run. Those who did not want to be in the triathlon could participate in a 5K run/walk, which was won this year by Regina Curry. Avilla says a full lake also increased the energy level for the hundreds of participants…

Avilla estimates Triathlon pledge fees this year at around 28-thousand dollars. The money helps funds local causes, including free mammograms and other related procedures through the Women’s Imaging Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. It also provides scholarships for local high school graduates who are seeking degrees in the health care field.
