What’s described as a major effort to re-open the Rush Creek Ramp on Independence Trail is being launched by Bear Yuba Land Trust. The ramp, built in the 1980’s, has been closed since the fall of last year, due to lack of maintenance and safety concerns. But restoration work has been stalled by a lack of money. What’s called a “peer-to-peer on-line crowd funding campaign” is available at “donate-dash-trails-dot-causevox-dot-com”, which can also be accessed through the Bear Yuba Land Trust web site. Despite the daunting financial and permitting challenges, Peterson is optimistic that work can begin next year.
