Fundraising Continues for Nevada City Police K-9 Rudiger

He has his own Facebook page and his own association raising funds for his support and care….and next month the public will have a chance to meet Rudiger, Nevada City Police Department’s new Canine Officer.

Nevada City Police Chief Tim Foley says other police departments with canine officers helped select the new dog who has already been named Rudiger.

Foley says Officer Goin fell in love with the dog, and they had an instant rapport. Training is already well underway.

Initially they projected it would cost $25- $28 Thousand dollars a year to keep a police dog. But community members are stepping up to volunteer.

The Western Nevada County K9 Association has also been selling raffle tickets for a stuffed toy Police Canine in Rudiger’s image to raise funds to support the dog. The latest drawing was today and CHP Officer Greg Tassone was the holder of the winning ticket.
